You are only required to stay there 90 minutes. After that, you can get up and walk out. We did. Practice saying 'no' before you go there. They are good at what they do and they make it sound really attractive to purchase. But in the long run with the yearly maintenance/dues, etc., it's very expensive. You will start out with one sales person and if they can't close the deal, someone else comes by your table and they go for the jugular. Just say 'no', then you'll be fine.

Thanks for the advice. They wont charge me any extra or anything if we stay for the 90 minutes required and then leave? Not a problem saying no, the problem will be getting up and leaving without feeling rude, even though I know its not really. Thanks again.

I have one friend whom I know clocked the sales pitch for 90 minutes. At the end of the 90 minutes her husband stood up and said he was leaving. The sales people tried to stop them from leaving, but her husband told them their 90 minutes was up and walked out the door. They did get all their freebies and discounts before leaving, but he sales people were not happy about having to give it to them. Don't be afraid to say no, to say their time is up, and to walk out the door. Don't feel like you are being rude. Chances are you will never see these people again.

Yep--with those timeshares folk you have to be firm. Keep your watch and be decent yet firm. Don't let them push you around, put you on a guilt trip, or tage advantage of you in any way. Make them deliver on what they promised for your time and then get out!

Got it!
Clock the time, expect all freebies (we have a bonus vacation without a pitch as a "hook" for this trip). But, I have read on other websites that if you don't stay for the whole experience, some will withhold the freebies--any recourse? What more information can anyone add? We're going the end of the month and plan on staying on at our own expense for a few day to chill out of the timeshare trauma. |

There are LOADS of nice motels UNDER $30/nite, $40 adds a truckload more! If you have not already paid for the timeshare related stay, just don't do it. Most rooms are UNDER $200/wk. What timeshare can you get for no up front cost and $200 per WEEK (you get a week, not a year) maintenence fee?
If you have to attend keep the $200 / week figure in mind. |

Money's gone--
$139.00 for 4 days, three nights and 4 show tickets for the same show. Then a 3 day, two night stay anywhere in the adjacent resorts across the country within twelve months. A week for $200 bucks??? OUCH!!! THIS TIMESHARE GROUP--They know I've been on the Securities and Exchange Commission's website and found out some stuff on the parent company and that I was given a connection with the Missouri's attoney general's office. Have we been scammed????? You mean I could get there and all this offered not be honored? It's for Grand Crowne Resorts---am I okay here? |

while in Gatlinburg Tn. last year my husband and myself were approched by a man that offered us tickets to dollywood, money etc... for 90 minutes of our time. we told him we did'nt have time he promised it would only be 90 min. and we would get these tickets and cash etc. he ask what motel we were staying @ we told him we brought our rv and was'nt at a motel...he said "well dont tell them that when you get there" so we took the bait... all of a sudden a black limo pulled up we were escorted to the car.. I have to say I was a little scared... they took us down some back roads & drivivg pretty fast, finally we got to this very nice place they offered anything you could ask for to drink (no alcohol) pastrys and snacks. i have to admit if we did'nt do the rv thing as much as we do (about 26 weeks a year) we would have definetly bought into it. we kept telling the man how good it sounded but we dont do the condo thing we are more into our rv...he got a little mad, sent over his boss we told him the same thing he got a little pushy and upset finally we told them we had to get back to our car (which we left at a parking lot) we had to wait for a ride back, this time it was a pt cruser. we got back to our car 3 hours later with tickets in hand definetly not worth it unless you do the condo/ timeshare thing, then it is a good idea.but plan on staying a while.
