Hello! I'm planning my next Branson trip and I'm looking at some new shows I've never seen before. One of these that I haven't seen before is the Hughes brothers. I remember seeing them on the strip driving by a few years ago but I don't know too much about them. Anybody seen them before?

Hi, we have seen the Hughes Brothers but that was 4 years ago and we ended up leaving at intermission. We were not impressed but someone else might think differently. Thanks.

We were in Branson earlier this year in the spring and I used to love the Hughes show. To be honest, I was very dissapointed in the show we saw. The wives and children were no longer part of the show and instead they had some strange guy (he wasn't a Hughes brother) who was trying to steal the show. He made offcolor racial slurs and jokes that made me uncomortable. The next morning we let the lady at the box office know how we felt. I hope they can take feedback like that and improve because until they do I will not see their show again. Mad

We too were disappointed; very disappointed. Their evening show is just the brothers and some guy who really shouldn't be part of their show. The Hughes Brothers Show was much better with the whole family. Does anyone know why they made such a drastic change. I've always enjoyed them in the past but have no plans to ever see the show again. Really too bad. They had such a good show.

I for one LOVe the Hughes Brothers show. My wife and I always make it a point to go to their show every trip. I think that there is a mis-understanding here. The wives and kids ARE in the show. In fact, every single one of the wives and all 20 of the kids are in the show. They are in the MORNING show. In the evening it is just the brothers and a comedian. When we bought tickets in the box office we were told this.Perhaps you didn't notive the show description? Smile
Anyway...to answer the initial question...is the show good...Well, like I said, we are fans. In addition, they have won awards for the Best Morning Show, Best Vocal Group AND theBranson Tradition Award. That being said...yes, the show is good. If it wns't...how would they have received those awards. They have a great deal of talent. Of course, because they are brothers, the harmonies are wonderful!
Now, as for the other comments of the EVENING show. The person that you were refering to is the comedian of the show. The role that he plays is just that...a role. He is wanting to be part of the show so that is why he says, and does, the things he does. The jokes that he makes are in fun and truthfully, I have heard a lot worse in other shows. The things he was joking about were well known stereotypes and was poking fun at that fact. We wre not offended by the jokes and the audience seemed to be having a great time.
Last year the night show also did not have the wives and children so..that isn't anything entirely new. They performed with the Osmonds towards the end of the year. I actually asked them about the change and was told a couple things that perhaps may shed some light. There were requests for an evening show....were some people who wanted to see a show without the families so they said they are trying to make everyone happy. In addition to that, they said it was hard on the families. I don't know about you but I can't even imagine getting all of those children ready for the show. If you'll notice, a lot of the shows that have children in them either don't have ALL of the entire family in the show OR they have 1 show a day. As much as we love seeing shows in Branson and the entertainment.....we have to realize that they too have families to raise and have to do what is best for them. I, for one, completely respect that. That is one of the things that my wife and I love about the show...it shows how close their family is and you can feel the spirit of their love while watching the show. The fact that they think about their families just goes to show what a wonderful family they are.
SO...to wrap up this LONG message...yes, it's a wonderful show and definitely worth your time.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it Betty. Make sure you see the morning show if you want to see all of those cute kids! They have some really cute moments in the show. If you hvaen't been there in a few years you are in for some fun. They changed most of their show this year and the evening show is mostly new stuff too. Have fun in the fall!

Yes, we too love The Hughes Brothers. But we will only go to the morning show. The evening show was very disappointing to my wife and I. The new guy needs to go. He didn't add anything to the show but annoyance. And the brothers just need to do what they do best and that is sing. Cut out the talk and the jokes and just sing. We can understand why it would be too difficult to have the kids in 2 shows a day. We only have 4 children and couldn't manage something like that. If the brothers feel they need someone else in the show for variety, we don't know why they're not doing a show with the afternoon entertainer Delene. We have seen her for years going all the way back to the hole in the wall Planet Branson and my bet is they would not only look great together but would sound great too. Just my opinion for what it is worth.

I respect your opinions but will still keep mine. =) Dallen is actually not in the show that much..I think it's because he has so much energy..that makes it seem like he's in a lot of the show. I don't know if you have noticed but the Hughes Brothers actually entertain more (singing-wise) than most of the other evening shows..Most other headliners have other acts or do jokes or have a comedian that gives them time off of the stage. The Hughes Brothers are still on the stage when the comedian is on the stage. Also, you have to keep in mind that it would be rather hard to sing for 2 straight hours, without any beaks, day in a day out. Whenever we have seen them, people seem to like the show..I'm sorry you aren't one of them. It's probably very hard to put together a show that pleases everyone. I'm glad that I don't have to do it. I coud not imagine the pressure of always having to rework a show so that everyone is satisfied. I'm glad that you still DO enjoy the morning show with the wives and kids. As for a show with Delene...I doubt that would happen. Not many shows have 2 headliners..the Hughes Brothers DID do that last year with the Osmonds. However, in my opinion, their styles ( HB and Delene), are completely different and I don't think it would blend well. OH...as a side note..the HB comedian spends LESS time on the stage than Delene's comedian. I guess it's just a matter of preference. I personally like the HB comedian because he IS different . Delene's comedian, Harley, is like most of the other ones in town....the stereotypical "Hillbilly" Humor. It's funny if you like that sort of thing but I don't find much humor in it. I suppose I am just bored by it at this point because I have seen so much of it....the Victoria's Secret/Janet Jackson joke was pushing it for "clean" humor for my grandkids. But, like I said....it's all a matter of opinion. So...just keep going to the morning show.. Very Happy Did you get a chance to see that your last time out? We loved it and can't wait for Christmas !

I do LOVE the Hughes' morning show. Applause However, I will not see the evening show again until they take that offensive young man out. My husband and I brought some friends with us the night we went to see them. I think I started to break out in a cold sweat when he started making jokes about being a jew, a mormon, and a black woman! One couple we were with was black and although they could see he wasn't really being offensive but trying to be funny, they didn't appreciate it. I've seen the Hughes show at least 6 times since they've been to Branson and I felt he disrupted their show. Let Jason be the comedian and make the jokes like he normally does.

I LOVE the Hughes family. They are the nicest people you'll ever meet! The brother's harmony is splendid and the children are adorable! I highly recommend their morning show and I would avoid the evening show unless you think laughing at a white man who thinks he is a black woman is funny. Just my two cents.

I just visited the Hughes Brothers show. I am a huge fan and have already seen their show several times this year. Anyway, the news, the skit about stereotypes is no longer in their show. Maybe they got enough complaints about it, so they took it out. I personally didn't think there was anything wrong with it. It was a joke. The comedian didn't really think that he was all of those things. He just joked about how sometimes people are discriminated against, because of those streotypes. Anyway, it was a joke and I guess some people just didn't get it. I know the Hughes Brothers and their comedian have good intentions and don't have anything against african Americans or any religion. People joke about almost everything under the sun and sometimes jokes are just plain mean. In this case the skit was not demeaning or mean, but sometimes when you just refer to certain things, people get offended.
