I'll be in Branson Sept 1st of this year. I've been before several times but I want to try some different things. Any ideas anyone? I know there is so much to do with the shows and all but I want to know if there's something else in Branson that I would regret if I missed out on it.

I know I have said this a couple times on this forum, but since you ask, make sure and see Mickey Gilley (evening), Pierce Arrow (afternoon & evening), and The Lowe Family (morning). If you have teenage girls, they'd love The Haygoods. The screaming was a bit too much for me, but the young men are very entertaining. We also go to Dixie Stampede every trip. Love the meal and the show is always spectacular. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your advice. I've seen so many shows that they just don't impress me much anymore. I want something stirring and exciting. Something better than the regular old branson shows (we've already seen alot but not all).

Not knowing for sure what you're asking for (a "different" type show, or no shows at all, just some different activity), maybe you could tell us some of the non-show things you already have done, and then maybe we can think of something different.

If you want shows that are not like most shows in Branson, I can't personally recommend this one since I haven't seen it, but I see a lot of good reviews for Cirque which I believe is at the Remington theater. A magic show (Darren Romeo or Brett/Kirby)? I haven't seen these either.

Just give us a clue on what type of info you're looking for, and I bet you get some replies. Confused

Well we've seen mostly shows and silver dollar city. Let's see... we've seen the Presley's, Kirby, Jim Stafford, Delene, Jimmy Osmond, Legends, Hughes Brothers, Pierce Arrow, Baldknobers, Shoji Tabchi, Glen Campbell, Andy Williams, 60s show, Welk Show, 50s at the hop, Duttons, Gatlin Brothers, Brett Singers, Yakov, Buck Trent, and probably more that I have forgotten. Rolling Eyes

The point is I feel like we've seen just about every show in Branson and I don't find them as entertaining anymore. I just need input for people who have done other things in Branson that I might enjoy more than what I've listed above. I just don't want to do the same old shows.

I hope that gives you some kind of idea of what I've done in the past and what I don't want to see again (right now anyway).

Go see the Ralph Foster Mueseum on the College of the Ozarks campus. It's very inexensive but they have a fabulous collection of many artifacts of all types. While on campus, you might also visit the grist mill or the jelly/fruitcake kitchen. They have samples and their products for sale too.

Try the Ladies of Motown Show at the Owens Theater downtown. Different for Branson but a pretty good show in a historic building and it's free.

Go up to Mansfield - up 65 and then on Hwy 60 to Rocky Ridge Farm where Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote her famous books (Little House).

Try Shepherd of the Hills. The views from the Inspiration Tower are wonderful. The homestead tour is interesting (especially if you've read "Shepherd of the Hills" and the show - more a play or pagaent - is also worth seeing.

I'm a freelance writer and I do articles quite often about things to do in the Branson area.....there are far more things to do than most people ever discover.

Oh, at the Table Rock Dam visitors center, there are some historic displays and also a movie about the building of the dam itself. Below the dam, the Shepherd of the Hills fish hatchery is another point of interest - and tours of inside the dam are given as well.

Rose O'Neill's Bonniebrook - the very different Predator zoo in Branson West - the new Branson Balloon which takes you up but never leaves a tether - drive over to Rockaway Beach and look across the lake to see Al Capone's former hideout.

Thanks to whoever posted about all the fun hidden treasures of Branson. I know about some of them (like the tower and Motown) but some of the others have caught my attention. I've been living here quite some time and I didn't know about the Rocky Ridge Farm. I might just have to go and check that out next weekend.

I have seen several good ideas on this website, and I know traffic can be hectic there especially on a holiday weekend. What is parking like to get into the shows? How much time should you alot yourself before the show time to get a good parking spot? Also has anyone stayed at the Welk Resort or no of anyone that has? I will be be traveling with my elderly mom so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great. I already have my hotel reservations and the shows we will be seeing.

Hello,

I’m also going to be visiting Branson in October with some of my family. We plan to see the Dixie Stampede and the Shoji Tabchi shows. I would like to make it out to the Roy Rogers and Dale Evens museum. Have any of you seen the show there? Is it worth seeing? Also, could you help me to decide between the Duttons and the Brett family show, I’d like to see one of them! Smile

Hello light!

Dixie is always fun with the food and the live entertainment they have in the arena. Can't go wrong there. Shoji has the nicest bathrooms in Branson so make sure you go to the bathroom at least once while you're there! As far as the Roy Rogers and Dale Evens museum I must admit I've never been there so I can't tell you what to expect. Branson has several family shows in town: Duttons, Bretts, Lowes, Hughes, and the Haygoods. To be honest my favorite is the Lowes because of their talent and high level of production. But if I were to choose between the Duttons and the Bretts I would have to go with the Duttons. The Duttons are also a very talented family and put on a great show. The Bretts are a much smaller family (dad, mom & two kids) but they sing very well--they also have a funny comedian. Hope that helps you for what it's worth! Smile

You can always avoid the traffic by using the back roads. Branson actually has quite a few back roads-you just need a good map to show you were they are. As far as how much time to allow yourself to get to a show that all depends on where you're staying and where you're going. If you stay at the Welk Resort you can get to just about any theater in town in less than 20 minutes. Oh, and the Welk Resort does have a nice hotel. I've stayed there several times and I always enjoy it. The Welk Resort is a nice place away from the busy traffic of the strip with their hotel, restaurant, and shows. Plus if your mother likes Lawrence Welk, they have all kinds of memorabilia, photographs, exhibits, statues, etc. that I'm sure she would enjoy.

Hi. I'm from Branson and am not a senior citizen! There was a lady looking for a few more things to do other than the normal shows. If you are looking for shows that are NOT like every other show in Branson, my suggestions would be Cirque (amazing visuals), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (probably the best cast and harmonies in town), and Celebrate America (The first half is a little rough, but the dancing in the show is amazing. So stick around for the second act! It's worth it.). Those shows are more than just your run of the mill variety shows and family acts in Branson. If you are looking for something that isn't shows and isn't SDC, there is a place called Predator World in Branson West. It is a Mini zoo of sorts. You can feed the sharks and sting rays, and watch the employees wrestle around with the bears and tigers. It is a place where all of the animals have been rescued. It is very inexpensive and for a good cause. If you like wine. The Stone Hill Winery gives free tours and free wine tasting. There are all sorts of other things to do in Branson, if you just know where to look. Shocked

I WOULD AGREE THE CIRQUE IS NOT A NORMAL BRANSON SHOW. A GREAT TWIST ON THE DINNER SHOW IS THE TALL TIMBER LUMBERJACK SHOW. IT IS PAST THE SILVER DC PARKING LOTS AND IT IS REALLY COOL. THE KID WOULD LOVE IT. YOU GET A GREAT DINNER (STEAK OR CHICKEN AND ALL THE FIXINS) PLUS A UNIQU SHOW. TWO LUMBERJACKS COMPETE IN TONS OF EVENTS. LIKE YOU SEE ON ESPN.

I REALLY LIKE THE ANTIQUE TOY MUSEUM , BUT THE KIDS MIGHT NOT CARE FOR IT.

IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE A LITTLE WAYS, EURAKA SPRINGS, ARKANSAS IS ABOUT 40 MINUTES. YOU CAN SEE THE GREAT PASSION PLAY EVERY NIGHT. IT IS AWSOME. SHOWS THE LAST 3 DAYS OF CHRISTS LIFE. ON THE SAME PROPERTY DURING THE DAY YOU CAN TAKE A TOUR OF THE HOLY LAND. THEY HAVE RECLICAS OF SOME OF THE MOST IMORTANT SITES IN THE BIBLE.

OF COURSE SPRINGFIELD, MO (30 MIN NORTH) HAS THE BASS PRO OUEDOOR WORLD (FREE) AND THE WONDER OF WILDLIFE MUSEUM ($10-$15) IS REALLY NEAT. GREAT FOR KIDS. THEY WILL LEARN WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING IT.

I've been planning this trip for months and after last night I don't know if we're coming anymore Crying or Very sad

Gas is just to expensive and unless it goes down a little, we're stuck here. If it continues to go up we'll just have to take the couch out in the front yard and watch the traffic drive by for fun.

Anybody want to push my car to Branson? Crying or Very sad

$5 a gallon! Shocked I hope that NEVER happens!!! Or if it does, I hope it's years from now. Branson finally broke $3.00 yesterday but I heard on the news that oil prices fell today below $70 a barrel so that should help a little (IF they stay down that is)

I just heard on the news today that officals prices to come down a little once things settle. I hope they come down more than a little! I'm glad I don't live too far from Branson! Luckily for me Branson is only 4 hours away! I feel bad for those driving long distances to get to Branson. Maybe they can invent a car that is powered by sun or wind!
