What is a DELUX Continental Breakfast?

My husband and I and another couple are coming to Branson to see a couple of Christmas shows. We are wanting to stay in a hotel/motel that has a nice continental breakfast (that would include biscuits & gravy - the guys' favorite). We have been noticing that a lot of the hotels/motels offer a free DELUX continental breakfast. Does this mean it includes hot foods or just lots of pastries? Any suggestions on great places to stay with a great free breakfast? Thanks for any help!

If the hotel/motel adds the word "deluxe" to their continental breakfast, I would certainly expect biscuits and gravy to be included, but it's best to ask them when you call for information/reservations.

Most with just a regular continental breakfast include coffee, usually 2 kinds of juice, usually some cold or hot cereal (along with facilities for hot water for you to make the hot cereal) bread to toast, perhaps some bagels, and donuts or sweet rolls (1 or 2 varieties) plus butter, jam, etc. to spread. It's plenty for me. I'd probably be too lazy to go out and have an exciting day if I ate more. Laughing

I've not stayed there, but I hear a lot about several motels in Branson that have breakfast buffets that include over 30 items, and I'm guessing biscuits and gravy are among them. For this, check out Branson's Best, Whispering Hill, and Savannah House. I understand they have great rates too. I'm sure there are more than what I'm listing that have the deluxe breakfasts.

In addition to breakfast, I understand that some, or all 3 of the ones I listed above serve cobbler, cookies, and soft ice cream in the evening around 9:30 for free too.

You might check out The Dutton Inn also. They have a good breakfast also with reasonable rates.

i've stayed at both cont. and deluxe cont, and as far as Branson goes I can't tell much difference in them. they all seem to have about the same things out.

minor differences;
comfort inns, grand oaks all had biscuits and gravy

palace inn had fresh waffles.

maybe this makes me sound cold... but does anybody else feel like when they advertise FREE cont breakfast, the motel should be responsible for paying the people doing it a decent salary, instead of putting out a tip jar? I mean that's part of the reason you pick a motel, the little extras you get, then when you have to start paying for it, that just makes the price of the motel higher.... might as well go buy a breakfast.

I hate to see tip jars, but I guess I've been lucky. I usually stay at what most would consider "budget" motels that have toast/bagels and 1 or 2 types of donuts or sweet rolls plus the normal juice/coffee, and maybe cereal ... I don't remember seeing tip jars in them, but it would irritate me if I did.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions!

As for the tip jars, unless they bring food to me or came and checked up on me, refilled my drink, etc.; they would be out of luck on a tip.

Deluxe usually have hot food like sausage, waffles, french toast, etc. In my opinion much better than a regular continental breakfast but very few places have it. You won't find a deluxe continental breakfast at a budget hotel.
